We are extremely excited that in summer 2023 we bought Heyes Farm's Alpacas and they moved to Noddy's Ark along with Andy, who has been introducing these lovely boys to the public for 5 years now and is a wealth of information on these gorgeous animals.
Alpacas are South American camelids and smaller cousins of the Llama. Alpaca fleece is luxuriously soft and fluffy, is incredibly tactile, and can be spun into yarn that weaves the most silky, warm and lustrous fabric for clothing. Alpacas are guardian animals and protective of their herd and are often used to guard small animals and birds from foxes and other predators. They have a kind and curious nature and are deeply intrigued by humans, making them excellent companions.
We have a few different options for Alpaca experiences which you can read about below.
Alpaca poo is a great option to fertilize plants! Like all fertilizers, alpaca poo can bring a host of benefits to your plants. It will improve the quality of the soil, especially its ability to hold water, as well as add valuable nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus.
Alpaca poo also has some distinct benefits compared to other, more conventional fertilizers. Alpaca poo can be spread immediately without the need to let it rot down.
Speak to Andy about buying Alpaca Poo from us
He is our resident Suri alpaca. Grows the long straggly type fleece. Our oldest animal, born in 2014. The old man of the group, he is also the basis for the mascot of Outback Alpacas.
The friendliest of the bunch. Born in 2015, he has a docile and curious nature, and can often be found investigating whatever we are up to in the paddock. His distinctive prominent front teeth and tendancy to be the first over make him easily identifiable
Known for his independent, or indecisive nature, depending on your viewpoint, born in 2015. He has very thin hair on his ears and eyelids. His pink skin is susceptible to sunburn, and factor 50 suncream is applied
Born in 2015, he is the most cautious of the boys. He will often hang back and be the last of the group to come over. He is also a water lover, and enjoys cooling off in pools in hot weather. Alpacas have sweat glands on their ankles, and this action is common practice for cooling down.
Jason is our most recent Alpaca addition. He's an 'in tact' male. Slightly smaller than the rest of our group and younger than them. Approximatley 4 - 5 years old.
